LIVE 8: I did pretty much see the whole thing, just a few comments and such, Kinda glad we didn't get the full on BBC coverage since alot of british opinion I've read have people kinda was annoyed by it, that and it was treating it more as just the concert than the event and not showing all the films between acts (even if they were depressing) and in America, well it was produced by MTV and VH1 so what do you expect they'd have done to it? they didn't play the full sets (but we didn't get them over here either) and cut into them with their own interviews and ads, there was a recap show on ABC as well, I'm guessing there might be a recap over here in primetime though since I'm guessing not many NZers would've actually watched it live
also funny was the swearing, sure it didn't matter too much over here since it was mostly overnight (although there were a few in the morning where the cartoons/What Now would normally be) Madonna just did it for the contraversy though, Snoops was all over the place as to be expected even Maroon 5 guy did it haha quite a few of the biddys did complain to BBC since it was on around 6pm there
best stuff would've had to be Green Day, Coldplay (Doing "Bittersweet Symphony w/ Richard Ashcroft was kinda cool) U2, Muse (damn only one song being shown though) Audioslave (again only one song) Killers (they only actually performed one song which was shown) Velvet Revolver, Linkin Park/Jay-Z, Kanye West and some of the other stuff was pretty good, kinda annoyed that Razorlight and Kaiser Chiefs were just shown in highlights though, they also skipped Placebo and Our Lady Peace, Jet and Deep Purple along with a few others also kinda surprising to see Pete Doherty turn up with Elton John of all people
poor Simple Plan fans their band was the only one that was cut off to go into live footage for Bob introing the original film and Madonnas performance
and was kinda surprised they didn't go live to Nelson Mandellas speech either, was flicking around in the boredom during Bryan Adams (I Think) and saw it on BBC World
finally, I just don't Get Robbie Williams, HOW could he be so over with the crowd when so many others weren't (most of the online forums I read were complaining about the deadness) plus Green Day did the better Queen cover already also yay for no ads during the time as well (although worry for the folks with Plasma TV's who watched the whole thing and have the TV2 logo now burned in haha)
and to all the Americans and Canadians, Happy Canada Day for July 1st and for the Americans, Independance day yesterday

and yea definatly one of the best acts @ The Live 8 Show, at least we did see the full set from them, and they were the first ones with the big swearing being dropped (although yea it was 3am here, but they did show it uncensored on UK TV somewhere about 6pm their time) was wondering if they actually would say the "Seig Heil" Line from "Holiday" when they played it since they were playing in Germany and they did, and of course the "We Are the Champions" Cover was great as well ****
